Enrichment Fridays

At Cross in Hand Church of England Primary School, we are passionate about providing children with a broad, balanced and inspiring curriculum. As part of this commitment, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils take part in Enrichment Fridays, a dedicated afternoon designed to celebrate creativity, develop new skills and nurture individual talents.

Each Friday, pupils rotate between classrooms and specialist learning spaces, where they have the opportunity to learn from different teachers across the school. Our staff bring their own passion, expertise and enthusiasm to a range of exciting subjects, allowing children to experience high-quality teaching from a variety of perspectives.

Initially, Enrichment Fridays will focus on four key areas: Physical Education, Spanish, Music and Computing. Through engaging, hands-on activities, pupils will deepen their understanding, strengthen existing skills and discover new interests. Whether composing music, developing digital skills, improving sporting techniques or exploring a new language, children are encouraged to challenge themselves, work collaboratively and develop confidence in their abilities.

The programme has been designed to inspire a fresh enthusiasm for learning while highlighting the importance of these enriching subjects within our curriculum. It also provides valuable opportunities for pupils to build independence, resilience and adaptability as they learn with different teachers and alongside a wider group of peers.

As our Year 6 pupils prepare for the transition to secondary school, Enrichment Fridays help them become more confident in moving between learning environments, engaging with different teaching styles and embracing new challenges. For Year 5 pupils, the programme offers an exciting glimpse of the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead.

Through Enrichment Fridays, we aim to broaden horizons, unlock potential and ensure that every child leaves Cross in Hand with a love of learning, a rich set of experiences and the confidence to flourish in the next stage of their education.
